Whenever I have the choice, I always choose the non-Telstra option. Sometimes there is no choice, and then I have to grit my teeth and prepare for the reaming ahead.
More than 3 months ago I moved from my family home to my new apartment. Although I was leaving, the family wanted to continue to use foxtel, so I transferred the account into my father’s name in January. And again in February. You see, Telstra has this way of being all smiles and “that has been done for you, sir”. Except it hasn’t, it never is, and it never will be. Hence, my irritation at noticing the debit from FOXTEL MANAGEMENT PTY PYRMONT being offset partly by a doomed prescience, spawned from years of Telstra efficiency.
I called Foxtel (131 999 – I don’t need to look it up). Apparently they cannot refund the money. If I had wanted them to stop billing me, I should have contacted them and arranged to have the account closed, or moved to my father’s name. Although my father and I both recall having done this many times before it turns out that, in fact, we never have. Whenever we remember having called them before, we are wrong. Because we never have. The foxtel agent told me so.
Here’s another great Foxtel one for you.
Totally out of the blue Foxtel Management Pty Pyrmont charge my NAB visa $200. I don’t even have an Foxtel account. I ring them and they refuse to help me and say I have to take it up with the bank.
I contact the NAB who eventually get back to me telling me the merchant admitted the error and they have credited teh money back to my account.
Off I go thinking this is the end of things. I changed bank to the ANZ for business reasons a month or so later.
Out of the blue on my first or second statement, yep, you guessed it, I get charged $200 on my new ANZ visa from Foxtel Management Pty Pyrmont. How the hell did they even get my new credit card details?! This has got to be straight out fraud, surely.
It is probably my fault for not having a Foxtel account. Then at least I’d be getting something for my money. Stupid me.
